Sensex-Nifty slipped from day’s high, closed with a decline, midcap smallcap stocks remained bright

Stock Market Closing On 01 October 2024: Heavy volatility has been seen in the Indian stock market in today’s trading session. Due to selling by investors, the stock market slipped from the day’s high. This decline in the market has occurred due to selling in energy and banking shares. Heavy buying has been seen in IT shares. Despite this, Sensex and Nifty closed with a decline. There was excitement due to buying in midcap and smallcap stocks. At the end of today’s trading, BSE Sensex closed at 84,266 with a slight fall of 34 points and Nifty of National Stock Exchange closed at 25,797 points with a fall of 14 points. 

Jump in market cap 

Both the major market indices Sensex-Nifty have closed falling. But due to the decline in midcap and smallcap stocks, there has been a rise in the market cap of listed stocks. The market cap of stocks listed on BSE closed at Rs 474.98 lakh crore, which had closed at Rs 474.35 lakh crore in the previous session. A jump of Rs 63000 crore has been seen in the market cap in today’s session. 

Sectorol Update 

In today’s trade, there was a rise in the shares of Auto, IT, Pharma, Metals, Media and Consumer Durables sectors. Whereas shares of energy, oil and gas, healthcare, banking and real estate sectors have seen a decline. But the most enthusiasm was seen in high midcap and smallcap stocks in the market. Nifty Midcap index closed at 60,358 points with a jump of 204 points and Nifty Smallcap index closed at 19,331 points with a jump of 151 points.    

Rising-Falling Shares 

Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 14 stocks closed with gains and 16 fell. Whereas out of 50 stocks of Nifty, 21 closed with rise and 29 with fall. Among the rising stocks, Tech Mahindra 2.93 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra 2.22 percent, Kotak Bank 1.55 percent, Infosys 1.53 percent, HCL Tech 1.18 percent, SBI 1.01 percent, Adani Ports 0.93 percent, Nestle 0.68 percent, ICICI Bank 0.56 percent, UltraTech Cement 0.33. percent, TCS closed with gains of 0.32 percent, Bajaj Finserv 0.12 percent, Bajaj Finance 0.93 percent. Among the falling stocks, IndusInd Bank closed with a fall of 2.64 percent, Asian Paints by 1.54 percent, HUL by 1.03 percent, Tata Steel by 0.98 percent.
