SEBI Employees Protest: Hundreds of angry employees of the stock market regulator SEBI have protested outside the Mumbai headquarters demanding the resignation of its chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch. These employees have demanded the resignation of the SEBI chairperson and asked her to withdraw the statement in which external sources were held responsible for the complaint made by the employees against Madhabi Puri Buch in a letter written to the Finance Ministry.
On Wednesday, SEBI had issued a statement regarding the employees’ resentment and allegations of toxic work culture. In this statement, SEBI rejected these allegations and said that these employees are being misled by external forces. SEBI said, the employees’ objections regarding HRA and toxic work culture are misguided by external elements and are possibly misplaced. SEBI said in its clarification, the purpose of these allegations is to make the credibility of the regulator questionable.
In fact, on August 6, 2024, about 500 employees of SEBI wrote a letter to the Finance Ministry and made serious allegations against Madhabi Puri Buch like spoiling the office environment, misbehaving with the employees and using abusive language. These employees wrote in their letter that they are very upset with the bad environment of the office. Senior officials shout at every little thing and scold the employees. SEBI employees alleged that Madhabi Puri Buch promotes toxic work culture. During her tenure, shouting at people in meetings and publicly humiliating them has become common.
