Sachin Tendulkar vs Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli has achieved his rhythm in all three formats of cricket. After a long time, he has scored centuries in all these three formats. In ODI cricket, he is close to breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of centuries, in which case he is constantly being compared to Sachin. In a similar debate related to Virat vs Sachin, when former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq was asked this question, he clearly described Sachin as the greatest batsman in the world.
Saqlain Mushtaq said, ‘If there is one batsman in the cricket world, on whom the whole world is unanimous, then it is Sachin Tendulkar. There is no bigger batsman than him. If you have to give an example of a shot, you give an example from Sachin’s shot. Viraj is a legend batsman in today’s time but Sachin has faced very difficult bowlers in his time.
‘Has Virat faced Akram?’
Giving weight to his point, Saqlain said, ‘There was something different in all the bowlers of that era. Has Kohli faced Wasim Akram? Has he batted against bowlers like Courtney Walsh, Ambrose, McGrath, Shane Warne and Muralitharan? All of them were very big names and very clever bowlers. These were such bowlers who knew how to trap you.
‘Not the same thing in today’s bowlers’
Saqlain said that today’s bowlers are not like the bowlers of that era. He said, ‘There are two types of bowlers in today’s era. One who can keep the batsman in check and the other who can trap the batsman. But the bowlers of that era had both these arts. Saqlain Mushtaq said these things on Nadir Ali Show.
