Britney Spears’ husband shut down a sensational report that the pop star had a “meltdown” at a restaurant.
“Don’t believe what people read online,” Sam Asghari wrote on his Instagram Stories Saturday night to defend his wife.
The actor’s post came hours later TMZ published the story Saying that Spears, 41, had “caused a scene” at Joy’s in Woodland Hills, Calif., when she went out to dinner with Asghari, 28, on Friday night.
Eyewitnesses claimed on the website that the “Hold Me Closer” singer was “manic” and “talking rubbish”, prompting the former personal trainer to “storm out”.
However, a video obtained by TMZ appeared to contradict the eyewitness account, simply showing Spears shielding her face with a menu while another patron filmed her using a cellphone in the middle of the establishment. The footage notably did not show Spears speaking incoherently or Asgari leaving in a huff.
A manager for Joy previously told Page Six that they “cannot divulge any details” about the celebrity couple’s high-profile trip.
But now, an employee tells us exclusively, “The disruptor wasn’t Britney — it was the diner who taunted her by making a video without consent.”
Spears initially addressed the incident by giving the middle finger in an Instagram video. he rewrote Sunday night, “I know all kinds of news gets publicized about me getting drunk at a restaurant… It feels like they must be tracking my every move 👀 !!! I’m so happy they talk about me like a lunatic then have the balls to talk about all the negative things that happened in my past!!!”
The Grammy winner spent nearly 14 years under a guardianship, which gave her now-estranged father, Jamie Spears, control over her personal, medical and financial affairs.
A Los Angeles judge ended the controversial arrangement in November 2021, and Britney married Asgari six months later.
