Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is one of the largest direct transfer schemes in the world. Just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Modi government had launched the scheme while presenting the interim budget. Under PM Kisan Yojana, Rs 6000 is transferred directly to the bank account of farmers in three installments in a year so that they can be given relief from expensive seeds and fertilizers. So far, Rs 3.25 lakh crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 9.25 crore farmers in 17 installments under PM Kisan Yojana.
