Dutta Gaikwad passes away: Indian cricket has suffered a big blow. Today i.e. Tuesday, 13 February, former captain and the country's oldest cricketer Dattajirao Gaikwad has passed away. Dattajirao Gaekwad breathed his last at the age of 95. The cricket world is in mourning due to the demise of the former captain. Cricketers including the Board of Control for Cricket in India paid tribute to the legend.
Dattajirao played test cricket for India. He played international cricket between 1952 and 1961. During this period, he played a total of 11 Tests for India, batting in 20 innings, he scored 350 runs at an average of 18.42. During this period he scored 1 half-century.
Dattajirao played first class cricket for Baroda. Dattajirao Gaekwad played 110 first class matches for Baroda. Batting in 172 innings of these matches, he scored 5788 runs at an average of 36.40. During this period, he scored 17 centuries and 23 half-centuries, in which his high score was 249* runs. Dattajirao Gaikwad, who played as a batsman, also took 25 wickets in first class matches at an average of 40.64.

Let us tell you that Dattajirao Gaekwad's son Anshuman Gaekwad also played cricket for India. Anshuman played international cricket for Team India between 1974 and 1987. During this period Anshuman played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs. He made his international debut in the Test played against West Indies.
Anshuman used to play as a top order batsman. Batting in 70 innings of 40 Tests, he scored 1985 runs at an average of 30.07. During this, he scored 2 centuries and 10 half-centuries, in which his high score was 201 runs. Apart from this, while batting in 14 innings of ODI, Anshuman scored 269 runs, in which his high score was 78* runs.
