Ola Layoff 2023 Update: Many companies in the country and the world are engaged in getting a large number of people out of jobs. It is known that after Twitter, Meta, Amazon, now some Indian companies have also started laying off employees. The country’s ride hailing company Ola (OLA) has started laying off its employees. According to media reports, the company has started laying off 200 employees from Ola Cabs, Ola Electric and Ola Financial Services Vertical. This announcement of retrenchment was made in September last year. Ola company says that it is bringing its operations to one place, due to which the company is restructuring to reduce unnecessary expenses and build a strong structure.

Ola company says that there are about 2000 engineers in Ola and it is going to increase the engineering talent pool to 5,000 in the next 18 months. Headed by Bhavish Aggarwal, chief executive officer of Ola Cabs, the company’s core ride-hailing business has around 1,100 employees. Earlier, in a restructuring exercise, employees across the company’s Product, Marketing, Sales, Supply, Tech, Business and Operations verticals were affected, affecting around 500 employees.
Engineers will be recruited soon
Ola, on the other hand, recently shut down its old vehicle business Ola Car as well as its quick commerce business, Ola Dash. The company wants to focus more on its electric two wheeler and car vertical, for which these businesses have been closed. Ola plans to hire 5,000 new engineers as it plans to double down on new engineering verticals.
