NZ Vs SL New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 58 runs to win the series 2-0

New Zealand vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test: New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka in the second test played in Wellington. The Kiwis won the match by an innings and 58 runs. With this victory, New Zealand whitewashed Sri Lanka 2-0 in the two-Test series. Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls played an important role in winning the match for the Kiwi team. Both of them scored double centuries in the first innings. New Zealand declared the first innings in this match by scoring 580 runs for 4 wickets. While the Sri Lankan team was able to score only 164 runs in their first innings. After this, the Kiwis gave the follow-on to the guests. Sri Lankan team was able to score 358 runs in the second innings.

Williamson-Nicholls scored double centuries

In the second Test played in Wellington, former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson scored 215 runs in the first innings while batting Shanadar. At the same time, Henry Nicholls also played an unbeaten inning of 200 runs following the former captain. Apart from these two, Devon Conway was dismissed after scoring 78 runs. In this way, New Zealand declared the first innings after scoring 580 runs for 4 wickets. Prabhat Jayasuriya and Dhananjay D’Silva took 1-1 wickets for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka surrendered

The Sri Lankan team, which came out to bat against New Zealand’s first innings, surrendered. The visiting team was able to score only 164 runs in the first innings. After this the Kiwis asked Sri Lanka to follow on. When the visiting team started playing the follow-on, it seemed that it would do some miracle. Some Sri Lankan players played good innings in the second innings. But Sri Lankan batsmen failed to play big innings in front of New Zealand’s tight bowling. If we look at the second innings of the guests, Dhananjay D’Silva 98, Dinesh Chandimal 62, Dimuth Karunaratne 51 and Kusal Mendis scored 50 runs. But all these innings could not avoid the defeat of the team.

The Sri Lankan team was all out after scoring 358 runs in the second innings on the fourth day of the Test match. Bowling well for New Zealand, Tim Southee and Blair Tickner took 3-3 wickets. While Michael Bracewell was successful in dismissing 2 players. While Matt Henry and Doug Bracewell got 1-1 wickets. Henry Nicholls, who scored 200 runs in the match, was awarded the player of the match title. At the same time, Kane Williamson, who did a great batting in the entire series, was awarded the Player of the Series.
