The New Zealand team has created history by defeating Pakistan 2-1 in the ODI series. This is the first time in the last 54 years that the Kiwi team has defeated Pakistan in the series at their home. Glenn Phillips was the hero of the victory in this ODI series for New Zealand, he was also given the Player of the Series award for his excellent batting throughout the series.
Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first in the decisive third and final ODI at the Karachi National Stadium. This decision did not prove to be right for Pakistan and the initial two wickets of the team returned to the pavilion on the score of Shan Masood (21) and captain Babar Azam (4). However, after this, there was a brilliant 154-run partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan for the third wicket.
