Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first in the decisive third and final ODI at the Karachi National Stadium. This decision did not prove to be right for Pakistan and the initial two wickets of the team returned to the pavilion on the score of Shan Masood (21) and captain Babar Azam (4). However, after this, there was a brilliant 154-run partnership between Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan for the third wicket. Rizwan scored 77 runs in this match while Fakhar scored a brilliant 101 runs. Due to the innings of these two, the Pak team scored 280 runs in front of New Zealand.

Chasing 281 runs, New Zealand got off to a good start. For the Kiwi team, opener Devon Conway and captain Kane Williamson played half-century innings. Although New Zealand’s innings had lost 5 wickets for 181 runs. From here it seemed that the Pak team would make a comeback but Glenn Phillips handled the innings and gave New Zealand a historic ODI series win.
