Ahmedabad Test: After winning the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, the Gujarat Cricket Association was instructed by the Team India management to prepare a good Test wicket for the Ahmedabad Test. This thing came to the fore in many media reports. The reason behind these instructions was believed to be that Team India will play the WTC final at The Oval in London, where there is a lot of grass on the pitch and the fast bowlers also get help. In such a situation, Team India’s effort was to prepare for the WTC final by preparing the same wicket in Ahmedabad, but now the plan of Team India has changed.
After losing the third match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, the Indian team management can now return to its spin-friendly pitch and match-winning formula. In the last decade, the Test record of the Indian team at home grounds has been much better. The main reason for this has been that spin friendly pitches are prepared in India. This is done because India is also full of spinners and Indian batsmen also play spin very well, while foreign batsmen are not able to play so well against spin.
Team India was caught in its own trap in Indore
In the first three matches of the four-match Test series being played between India and Australia, spin-friendly tracks were made at the behest of Team India Management. Here in Nagpur and Delhi, Team India had won but in Indore it got trapped in its own trap. Spinners were getting erratic turn from the very first day in Indore, here the Indian team could score only 109 runs in the first innings and then its return in the match became impossible.
Team India would like to win the Ahmedabad test in any case
After losing the Indore Test, Team India will now try to win the Ahmedabad Test at any cost. In such a situation, the possibility of making the pitch of Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium spin friendly has increased again. Spin track was also seen in the previous matches held here. In the two matches held two years ago, the Indian team had badly defeated England here. In one Test, the Indian spinners defeated England in two days, while in the second Test also the match could not last for three days.
What does the Gujarat Cricket Association have to say?
In a conversation with PTI, it has been said on behalf of the Gujarat Cricket Association, ‘We have not received any instructions from the Indian team management so far. Our curators are preparing a simple pitch, as they have been doing before. It has also been said on behalf of the official that definitely in the last days the local curators get instructions from the ground and pitch committee of BCCI. But till then the effort from our side is that a good Test wicket can be prepared.
