Mumbai : Looking at the hospitals in the city, the picture of Mumbaikars falling ill due to the increasing outbreak of mosquitoes comes to mind. In the last month of the monsoon season, Mumbai again suffered from rain. Apart from this, it is seen that the number of malaria and dengue patients has increased in the month of September as compared to the month of August. In the month of September, 1261 cases of malaria and 1456 cases of dengue were reported in Mumbai. Even though rainfall has reduced, the number of monsoon diseases has not reduced. There is a considerable number of malaria and dengue patients in the city. Both these diseases are caused by mosquitoes. Therefore, it is important to be vigilant in removing stagnant water from the house and area and reducing the incidence of mosquitoes. Meanwhile, Mumbai Municipal Corporation is also running a special awareness campaign named 'Bhaag Machru Bhaag'.
Fever, chills, cough and joint pain are common symptoms of dengue and malaria. However, citizens are becoming extremely worried as some patients have similar symptoms but no disease has been found in medical tests. According to medical experts, it is said to be a viral infection. Some patients who fall ill due to body pain show common symptoms like chills, fever, cough, cold etc. However, neither disease is diagnosed until after two to three days of blood testing. Doctors are treating the symptoms, calling it a viral infection. The interesting thing is that even though this disease gets cured in three-four days, the patients affected by it still suffer from body pain.

Citizens should take care that there is no accumulation of water in their house, around the house or anywhere in the building area. Female mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water. Breeding sites for mosquitoes have been created. If water accumulates anywhere, it should be removed immediately. Care should be taken to ensure that water does not accumulate in tyres, coconut shells, plastic bottles and jars, tree trunks, fridge defrosters. Feng Shui, Water ornamental plants like money plant regularly day and night, use mosquito nets or anti-mosquito medicines while sleeping.
Zika virus has been detected in a patient
A patient of Zika virus has surfaced in Mumbai and the Municipal Corporation administration has informed that a 63-year-old woman has been treated in a private hospital. The Municipal Corporation Administration said that the health of the patient infected with Zika virus is stable and now he has no symptoms. Also, the municipality has clarified that there is no need to panic as the mortality rate from Zika disease is negligible. Symptoms of Zika include fever, rash, eye pain, pain in the limbs, joint pain, fatigue and headache.
