LIC Yes Bank IRFC May Be Included In Derivative Segment As SEBI To Review Selection Criteria

SEBI Update: Stock market regulator SEBI is preparing to change the rules for inclusion or exclusion of stocks trading in the futures segment (Derivatives Segment). About 78 stocks including LIC, Yes Bank, Zomato, Jio Financial, Adani Green can be included for trading in the derivatives segment. The methods and rules for inclusion of stocks in the derivatives segment were last reviewed in 2018. SEBI is again going to review the rules for selection and exclusion of stocks for the derivatives segment.

SEBI has issued a consultation paper to review the rules for inclusion or exclusion of stocks in the derivatives segment. SEBI said, the rules for inclusion of stocks in derivatives were last reviewed in 2018. Since then, there has been a huge increase in the market parameters reflecting the size and liquidity of the cash market, i.e., market capitalization and turnover. In the consultation paper, SEBI has sought suggestions from all stakeholders regarding inclusion or exclusion of stocks in the derivatives segment.

Under the proposed rules, SEBI wants to increase the order size from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 76 lakh to Rs 1 crore. The market-wide position limit has also been proposed to be increased from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1250 crore to Rs 1750 crore. SEBI has also proposed to introduce a product success framework for single-stock derivatives.

Brokerage firm Nuvama Research has released a list of 78 such stocks which are likely to be included in futures and options i.e. derivatives. Such potential stocks include Zomato, Yes Bank, IRFC, Adani Total Gas, Adani Green Energy, LIC, Kalyan Jewellers, Lemon Tree Hotels, NMDC Steel, Bank of India, Rail Vikas Nigam and BSE. On the other hand, the stocks which can be excluded from futures and options include those whose floating liquidity is very low, which includes Bata India, United Breweries, Torrent Pharma, MGL.
