Kumar Sangakkara may replace Gautam Gambhir in Kolkata Knight Riders KKR in IPL 2025

Now the news has come out that Rajasthan Royals team director Kumar Sangakkara can replace Gautam Gambhir in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

According to a report by Sports Today, Sangakkara is in talks with Kolkata Knight Riders to become a mentor. If Sangakkara becomes the mentor of KKR, he will replace Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir had to leave KKR after becoming the head coach of Team India. In 2024, Gambhir was seen as the mentor of Kolkata. Now in 2025, Kumar Sangakkara can be seen as the mentor of KKR.

The report also revealed that former Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara wants to part ways with Rajasthan Royals and look at offers from other teams. However, no official information has been revealed about this yet. Now it will be interesting to see whether such a change actually happens or not.

Rajasthan Royals' performance was good in 2024

Rajasthan Royals performed well in IPL 2024 and qualified for the playoffs. The team won 8 out of 14 matches and secured the number three position. However, the team had to lose the qualifier match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Before the qualifier, the team defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator match. Rajasthan won against Bangalore by 4 wickets.
