IPL 2023 Medical Guidelines: There is no more fear of coronavirus in the sports world. From cricket to other sports, now Kovid positive players are also getting permission to enter the field. From last year’s T20 World Cup till now, Kovid positive players have been a part of playing-11 in almost every league and bilateral series in cricket. But this will not happen in IPL 2023.
In the medical guidelines issued for IPL 2023, it has been made clear that the Kovid positive player may have to remain isolated for a week. It is written in the guidelines, ‘There is a considerable decline in the cases of Kovid-19 in India, but we have to be alert to all its different variants which are coming out at regular intervals. In such a situation, players positive with this virus may have to remain isolated for a maximum of seven days. In this period of isolation, the Kovid positive player will have to stay away from matches as well as all kinds of activities and events.
Team can join even after 5 days
This medical guideline for IPL 2023 has been handed over to all the franchises this week. It is also written in this that if Kovid positive players come negative in the test on the fifth day and then within 24 hours their second test report also comes negative, then they can join the team from the sixth day as well.
Getting discount since August last year
From Commonwealth Games 2022, Kovid positive players in cricket started getting permission to participate in the match. In the women’s T20 match against India in CWG 2022, Tahila McGrath of Australia was given a place in the playing-11 despite being Kovid positive. Since then, on many occasions in cricket, players have been seen playing even after being Kovid positive.
