The Labor Ministry on Thursday issued an official statement regarding inflation for industrial workers. The ministry said in the statement that during the month of January, the retail inflation rate for these workers came down to 4.59 percent. The retail inflation rate for industrial workers was 4.91 percent a month before this, i.e. in December 2023. This inflation rate was 6.16 percent a year ago.

This is how food inflation reduced

The main reason behind this decrease is the retail inflation rate for industrial workers i.e. CPI- Industrial Workers. The reason is the softening of food inflation. According to the ministry, food inflation came down to 7.66 percent in the month of January, which was 8.18 percent a month earlier in December 2023. However, this inflation rate is still much higher than a year ago. A year ago, i.e. in January 2023, the food inflation rate was only 5.69 percent.

These expenses increased the pressure on the workers.

According to the ministry, during the month of January, the food inflation on industrial workers Expenses ranging from house rent to tobacco and pan masala etc. added pressure. In the month of January, there was a rise in inflation in the case of house rent, ladies suiting, casual wear, cotton sarees, woolen sweaters, plastic/PVC shoes, sewing-spinning charges, tobacco, liquor and pan masala etc. That is, the prices of these things increased rapidly in January.

Slowing down in inflation of these things

On the other hand, food items provided relief to the workers from inflation. In the month of January, the prices of onion, potato, tomato, brinjal, ginger, peas, cabbage, cauliflower, French beans, lady's finger, banana, grapes, papaya, pomegranate, fresh coconut etc. softened. Laborers got relief from goods like kerosene and charcoal. Also provided relief from inflation.
