World Wrestling suspends WFI membership: United World Wrestling informed about its decision to terminate the membership of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on 24 August. The World Wrestling Federation took this decision because of the absence of WFI elections. Now due to the end of membership, Indian wrestlers will have to face a new problem. In this, Indian wrestlers will not be able to participate under the flag of the country.

The upcoming World Wrestling Championship is going to start from September 16 and Indian wrestling players will have to participate as neutral athletes in the Olympic Qualifying World Championship. Let us tell you that after the end of the tenure of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the former President of the Wrestling Federation of India, elections were to be held within 45 days, but due to the ban on the election on the basis of the petition of different state wrestling associations, it could not be completed. Due to this, now the World Wrestling Federation has terminated the membership.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, former president of the Wrestling Federation of India, was separated from his work even before the completion of his tenure. The reason for this was the continuous demonstration of the wrestlers against them. After this an adhoc committee was formed which was looking after all the work and it was also responsible for organizing the elections.

Faced suspension in January and May as well

For the third time in the year 2023, the Wrestling Federation of India has to face suspension. Earlier in January and after that in the month of May also, the World Wrestling Federation had suspended him. The reason behind this was the serious allegations made by women wrestlers on the then President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. At the same time, the wrestlers also opposed the functioning of the wrestling association.
