Stock Market Closing On 25th January 2023: Wednesday has been a very disappointing day for the Indian stock market. Apart from Hindenburg Research’s report on Adani Group’s stocks, the Indian stock market has witnessed a major decline due to the selling of investors. Banking stocks have had a big hand in the fall in the market. Bank Nifty has seen a decline of more than 1,000 points by 2.54 percent. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex fell by 774 points or 1.27 per cent to 60,205 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty fell by 226 points or 1.25 per cent to close below 18000 at 17,891 points.
Sectoral Update
No sector was spared from the storm of market downturn. Shares of all sectors like Banking, IT, Pharma, Metals, Energy, FMCG, Consumer Durables, Infra closed down. Midcap and smallcap stocks also declined. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, only 8 stocks closed with gains, while the remaining 22 stocks declined. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 10 closed with gains and 40 closed with losses.

In today’s trading session, Maruti Suzuki gained 0.98 per cent, Hindalco 0.92 per cent, Bajaj Auto 0.84 per cent, HUL 0.84 per cent, Tata Steel 0.50 per cent, Hero MotoCorp 0.47 per cent, JSW Steel 0.36 per cent, ONGC 0.20 per cent, Bharti Airtel 0.11 per cent. is closed. While Adani Ports closed down by 6.31 per cent, IndusInd Bank by 4.63 per cent, SBI by 4.32 per cent, HDFC Bank by 2.76 per cent, Cipla by 2.53 per cent, HDFC by 2.33 per cent, Axis Bank by 1.96 per cent.
