Matt Kuhnmann reveals how Nathan Lyon inspired him after taking 5 wickets against India in Ind Vs Aus Indore Test

India vs Australia, Indore Test: Australian team’s left-arm spin bowler Matthew Kuhneman played an important role in wrapping up the Indian team’s first innings for 109 runs on the first day of the Indore Test match. Kuhneman took 5 wickets in an innings for the first time in his Test career, which he credited to fellow player Nathan Lyon.

Matthew Kuhneman single-handedly bundled out half of the Indian team’s innings with 16 runs in his 9-over bowling spell. During this, Kuhneman took the wickets of Team India captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ravichandran Ashwin and Umesh Yadav. Apart from Kuhneman, Nathan Lyon took 3 wickets and Todd Murphy took 1 wicket in the first innings for the Kangaroo team.

After the end of the first day’s play, Matthew Kuhneman while talking to Star Sports said that Nathan Lyon boosted my confidence a lot. He told me that you just enter this competition and then it does not matter whether you are bowling to Rohit or any other player. Yes Rohit is a very good batsman in these conditions but Nathan told me to be more concerned about my things.

Matthew Kuhneman further said that we constantly keep talking about bowling and during this time it was most important that we should not let our attention wander from bowling. Had to concentrate on bowling at one place continuously.

We reworked our plan after the first 2 Tests

During the Delhi Test match, Matthew Kuhneman was able to get only 2 wickets. Regarding this, the Australian spin bowler said that we sat down with Daniel Vettori and talked about our bowling plan in the first 2 Test matches, after which we focused on what changes should be made in the strategy.

Kuhneman told about this that we were bowling very short in the first 2 Test matches. Regarding this, we again worked on our plan. Apart from working on some technical things, we also prepared ourselves mentally. This 10-day break has proved to be very beneficial for us.
