Social media safety: With the increasing rate of digitalization in India, the problem of hate comments on social media is also increasing. Nowadays, while discussing any topic on social media, people become very aggressive within a short time and then a normal discussion reaches the level of abusive language.
Sometimes this matter becomes so serious that it even reaches the point of police and legal action. To stop this problem, students of ITT and BHU have together found a solution. He has developed a technology that can help in identifying hate comments on social media.
Hate speech will be curbed
Dr. Ravindranath Choudhary, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science Engineering, IIT-BHU, said, “India is the second largest country in the world in terms of digitalization. A large number of people in our country are active on social media platforms.
There is no doubt that social media has become an important part of the lives of common people. People who are active on social media also use a mixture of Hindi and English. It is difficult to identify comments made on social media in any one language and even more so to identify a mixed language.
20.38% relevance score
However, a thorough analysis of the complexities of Devanagari Roman mixed text has been done by Paras Tiwari, a research student in the department, and the code with a relevance score of 20.38 percent has been developed as a very useful tool for collecting mixed abusive/objectionable texts and annotating them. The method has been prepared. And the most important thing is that this data set is 8 times larger than the existing data sets. This means that a greater number of objectionable posts can be identified.”
Helpful in stopping cyber bullying
Associate Professor Dr. Ravindranath Chaudhary said that this technology identifies abusive comments by analyzing the complexities of Devanagari and Roman mixed text. With the help of this technology, abusive comments can be reduced on social media platforms and a safe environment can be provided to the users.
Use of machine learning techniques
Machine learning and advanced pre-trained large language models have been used in this technology. This technology not only detects hate comments but also helps in removing them.
India's digital community benefits
This technology can help India's diverse digital community deal with cyber bullying. This technology is an important step in providing a safe environment to users on social media platforms.
