Drinking tea every other day is good for your heart, according to a study published online Jan. 9 by the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. The study followed more than 100,000 people to examine long-term health. It also found that those who drank the most tea had a 20 percent lower risk of heart attack or related problems and a 22 percent lower risk of dying from a heart attack than those who drank fewer than three cups of tea.
What is the reason for this?
Both green and black tea are rich in compounds called flavonoids that help reduce the risk of heart disease, inflammation. Drinking tea has also been linked to lowering cholesterol and improving blood vessel function. Tea contains heart-protecting compounds, which are important for fighting inflammation and damaged cells in the body, improving blood vessel function. Compounds in green tea help break down plaque associated with blood clots.
It is important to consume tea in moderation
Tea has many health benefits. Since polyphenols do not accumulate in the body for a long time, drinking tea for a certain period of time can be beneficial for health. A cup of tea contains 47 mg of caffeine and green tea contains 28 mg of caffeine. Therefore, its excessive consumption can cause problems like acidity, heartburn, nausea. Apart from this, many experts also say that if you drink boiled tea by adding milk and sugar, then this tea helps in increasing the cholesterol level. Therefore, experts recommend drinking tea in small quantities instead of inviting heart diseases by drinking tea rich in sugar and calories.
