Also, ICMR said that about 10 percent of seriously ill patients suffering from H3N2 virus require oxygen and 7 percent are admitted to ICU for care.
30-50 lakh cases every year
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 30-50 million cases of this seasonal influenza virus are reported worldwide every year. Of these, 2.9 to 6.5 lakh people die due to respiratory diseases. According to WHO, vaccination is the most effective way of preventing disease.
