Govt reduces prices of drugs 70 Essential Medicines including of lifestyle diseases

The government has given a big relief to the common people about two weeks after the full budget for the financial year 2024-25. A decision has been taken to reduce the price of 70 essential medicines including painkillers and antibiotics. This will make the treatment of many diseases cheaper for the common people.

Decision taken in the recent meeting of NPPA

This decision to reduce the prices of many essential medicines was taken in the recent meeting of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA). The government officially notified the decision taken in the NPPA meeting this week. The NPPA regulates the prices of essential medicines sold in the country, which are used by common people in the treatment of various diseases. In the meeting, a decision was taken to reduce the prices of 70 medicines and 4 special medicines.

These medicines are going to become cheaper

The 70 medicines whose prices were decided to be reduced by NPPA in this meeting include painkillers, antibiotics, medicines used in the treatment of fever, infection, diarrhea, muscle pain, diabetes, blood pressure, heart and many lifestyle diseases. Apart from them, NPPA also decided to reduce the prices of 4 special formulation medicines.

Their prices decreased last month

Earlier, the government had reduced the prices of many essential medicines in the month of June. In its 124th meeting held in June, NPPA had reduced the prices of 54 commonly used medicines and 8 special medicines. The prices of antibiotics, multivitamins, diabetes and heart related medicines were also reduced last month. Apart from them, medicines used in the treatment of diseases like cancer were also made cheaper.

Crores of common people will get direct benefit

Reducing the prices of essential medicines will directly benefit crores of people in the country. Crores of people buy medicines ranging from painkillers to antibiotics for the treatment of various diseases. This decision of the government has come about two weeks after the budget presented last month. The government was expected to continue the initiative towards making the prices of medicines affordable.
