FPI Invested 7200 Crore Rupees In March Till Now Most Investment In Adani Group

FPI Investment: Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have invested Rs 7,200 crore in the Indian stock market so far this month. The main part of this includes investment made by GQG Partners of America in Adani Group companies. The US banking system is under stress after the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank earlier this month. Despite the volatile macro sentiment, most of the global markets saw an improvement.

FPI had withdrawn money in February and January

According to depository data, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have invested Rs 7,233 crore in Indian stocks this month till March 24. Earlier in February, FPIs pulled out Rs 5,294 crore from stocks and Rs 28,852 crore in January. At the same time, in December 2022, he had invested Rs 11,119 crore purely in shares.

VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Financial Services, said FPIs are likely to remain cautious in the near term due to risk aversion in global markets due to stress in the US banking system and fall in banking stocks. Vijayakumar said that FPI investment in March included an investment of Rs 15,446 crore made by GQG in four shares of Adani.

FPI flows likely to remain volatile

Shrikant Chauhan, head of equity research (retail), Kotak Securities, said, “On the economic front, the US Federal Reserve has increased the policy rate by 0.25 per cent. Along with this, the US central bank has expressed hope of stability in the country’s financial system. FPI flows are likely to remain volatile due to the tight monetary stance of the central bank.
