Asia Cup 2023 hosting issue: Former Pakistan cricketer Abdur Rehman has given a shocking statement on BCCI opposing the hosting of Asia Cup in Pakistan. He has said that even if the Indian team does not come to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup, the Pakistan team should take part in the 2023 World Cup to be held in India. He made this statement in the form of a taunt. He said that the Pakistan team should answer India through their game in the World Cup.
Significantly, the hosting rights of Asia Cup 2023 are with Pakistan. But the BCCI has made it clear that the Indian team cannot come to Pakistan under the present circumstances. In such a situation, there is a possibility of shifting the Asia Cup to some other country. At the same time, there are constant statements coming from Pakistan that if India is refusing to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan, then Pakistan should also not participate in the World Cup to be held in India. However, some former Pakistani cricketers differ from this view. Abdur Rehman is also included in these.
‘We should go there’
On the ‘Nadir Ali Podcast’ YouTube channel, former Pakistani cricketer Abdur Rehman has said, ‘All the people working in the ICC are Indians. 60-70 percent of the funds also come from India. Pakistan should go there (India) because we want to play. We are not in a position to say ‘no’. If the Indian team does not want to come here then it is fine but we should go there and give them a reply by playing tremendous cricket. During this, when the anchor named ICC as the Indian Cricket Council, Abdur Rehman also agreed. He said that yes, ICC lives under the pressure of India.
