In the 17th episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 15, Jaskaran Singh from Punjab became the first crorepati of the season. Jaskaran, hailing from Tarn Taran district, correctly answered the one crore question, winning the amount of Rs 1 crore. The question that led to his victory was, “Who was the Viceroy of India when the capital of India was shifted from Calcutta to Delhi?” The options provided were Lord Curzon, Lord Hardys, Lord Minto, and Lord Reading, with the correct answer being Lord Hardys.

During the show, Jaskaran expressed his joy of earning this amount on his own and shared that he is currently studying B.Sc. Economics while preparing for the UPSC exam. Jaskaran’s determination and dedication were evident in the fact that he travels 50 kilometers daily to pursue his studies. His enthusiasm caught the attention of host Amitabh Bachchan, who congratulated him on his achievement.

Jaskaran’s motivation for participating in KBC was to provide a better life for his family. He holds deep affection for his grandparents and wanted to make them proud. Although there was anticipation regarding whether Jaskaran would be able to answer the seven crore question, he ultimately won one crore but was unable to proceed further.
