Defense Ministry: India’s arm force will be stronger, DAC approves proposals worth Rs 7,800 crore

To strengthen the defense further, approval of Rs 7,800 crore has been received from the Council. In its statement on Thursday, the ministry said that the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved proposals worth Rs 7,800 crore to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces. 

The ministry said that under this proposal all purchases will be made from indigenous sources. In its statement, the ministry further said that to further strengthen the Indian Air Force, the DAC has given permission for procurement and installation of Electronic Warfare Suite on Mi-17 V5 helicopters. 

Wherein EW Suite will be bought from Bharat Electronics (BEL). The DAC has also accorded necessary permission for procurement of Land Based Autonomous System for Mechanized Infantry and Armored Regiments, which will enable unmanned surveillance, logistics delivery of ammunition, fuel and spares, and essential evacuation from the battlefield .

Everything will be indigenous 

The ministry said that some other things have been included in the approval from the DAC, which will further increase the strength of the army. AON will also be provided for procurement of rugged laptops and tablets for the Indian Army under Project Shakti. It states that all these purchases will be made only from indigenous vendors. 

AoN approval for Navy 

To enhance the operational capability of MH-60R helicopters of the Indian Navy, AoN has been approved by the DAC for procurement of the weapon.
