In Maharashtra’s Thane city, a 37-year-old man’s cryptocurrency account was first hacked by someone and US $ 15,097 (about Rs 12 lakh) was stolen. The police gave this information on Monday. An officer of the Srinagar Police Station said that the incident took place on November 1, 2022, but the person lodged a complaint with the police last week.

Police said that action will be taken on the basis of the complaint. The Srinagar Police on Saturday registered a case against the unidentified person under section 420 cheating of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act. The investigation of this matter has been handed over to the cyber cell and the cyber cell will further investigate it.
Transferred the amount to the company’s account
The officer said that the victim, a resident of Kandivali in neighboring Mumbai, had come to Thane on November 1 for some work. At the same time, someone hacked his crypto account online and made about 12 lakh rupees disappear from it. Later it was found that this amount was directly transferred to the bank account of a company.
Complaint lodged after two months
Police said that the victim has not given any reason for filing the complaint after two months. Police has further informed that the matter is being investigated.
