The bat with which Shahid Afridi scored 104 runs in 40 balls against Sri Lanka in 1996. That bat was gifted by Sachin Tendulkar to former Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis. And in the match against Sri Lanka, Waqar gave that bat to Afridi for batting. That bat became the golden bat for Afridi’s career. Afridi’s record broken after 18 years
Shahid Afridi’s record of scoring the fastest century in ODIs remained with him for the whole 18 years. This record was broken by New Zealand batsman Corey Anderson in the year 2014. He played a century in 36 balls against the West Indies. At the same time, this record of Corey could not be maintained for long and in 2015, explosive South African batsman AB de Villiers broke this record and scored a century in 31 balls. No batsman has been able to break this record of de Villiers till date.
