Shashi Tharoor on Agni Dev Chopra: Veteran Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is a big fan of cricket and from time to time has been giving statements in support of his favorite cricketers. Just a few days ago, he had given a warm welcome to Sanju Samson, who had scored a brilliant century against Bangladesh. Now he has given a big statement on social media in support of a domestic cricketer. Actually, Shashi Tharoor is referring to Agnidev Chopra, who is the son of famous Indian writer and journalist Anupama Chopra.
Shashi Tharoor expressed disappointment through X that Agnidev Chopra’s average in first-class cricket is more than 99. Despite this, there is very little information available about him on the internet. He wrote in his post, “I often come to the internet to know the facts of Indian domestic cricket. This time I have found an Indian batsman whose average in 9 first-class matches is 99.06. He has scored 8 centuries in 17 innings and The name of this player is Agnidev Chopra.”
Who is Agnidev Chopra?
Agnidev Chopra was born in Detroit city of America and plays for Mizoram in Indian domestic cricket. Agni bats with his left hand and also bowls off-spin with his right hand. So far, he has scored 1.585 runs at an average of 99.06 in his 9-match first-class career. He has scored 646 runs in five innings in the current Ranji Trophy Plate League.
He has captained the Mumbai team at the Under-19 level, but after coming to the Under-23 level, he made his first-class cricket debut for Mizoram. He made his debut against Sikkim and created discussions by playing an inning of 166 runs in the first match itself.
