Chess World Cup 2023 Prize Money, R Praggnanandhaa: In the Chess World Cup 2023, India’s 18-year-old Grandmaster R Pragyananda may have lost to Magnus Carlsen of Norway in the final but still managed to win a hefty amount as the runner-up. R Pragyananda is the second Indian player to have played the final match of the FIDE World Cup. After the initial 2 matches with number-1 chess player Magnus Carlsen ended in a draw, the result was drawn through tiebreaker, in which Pragyananda had to face defeat in both.
After the defeat in the final match, R. Pragyananda got 80 thousand US dollars as runner up, which is 66 lakh rupees according to Indian rupees. On the other hand, Magnus Carlsen, who won the final, has been given an amount of 110 thousand US dollars, which is about 91 lakh rupees according to Indian rupees.
India’s legendary chess player Viswanathan Anand was the first player to play the final match of the FIDE World Cup. After this, now Pragyananda has become the second player to do this feat. Pragyananda is also the third youngest player to reach the final of the Chess World Cup.

The final match lasted for three days
The final match of Chess World Cup was organized for 3 days. The match played on the first day on 22 August ended in a draw after more than 70 moves, and then on 23 August, when the second match ended in a draw after 30 moves, it was again contested in a tiebreaker to get the result. Where Magnus Carlsen won the title in two rounds of 25-25 minutes.
