Central Government Has Exempted Customs Import Duty On Pigeon Pea Or Tur Dal

Import Duty on Arhar Tur Dal: Before the festival of Holi, the news of great relief is coming to the public. The Modi Government at the Center has removed the import duty on Whole Arhar / Tur Dal, which is used in the common man’s kitchen. Due to this, the price of pulses available in the mandis will come down. By taking this decision just before Holi, the government has worked to give some relief in inflation. Means now traders will not have to pay any kind of import duty on importing whole tur dal in the country. However, apart from whole tur dal, basic import duty of 10 per cent will be applicable on tur dal other than earlier.

Removed 10 percent import duty

The government had till now imposed 10 percent import duty on whole tur dal, now it has been abolished completely. The Union Finance Ministry has issued an order to remove duty on Whole Toor Dal on March 3, 2023. This order has come into effect from March 4. Meaning you will get a chance to buy cheap pulses before the festival. Guests keep coming and going during the festival, country’s most favorite tur dal has to be made which can now be bought at cheap prices.

Government showed strictness

In November last year, the Central Government had issued an order on Arhar/Tuar Dal. In this order, the government had said that the traders of tur dal will have to give every information about their stock in the country to their state government. Your stock will have to be declared regularly on the FCI portal. Along with this, the government of all the states will monitor it. This will prevent black marketing of pulses and rising prices. This rule will be applicable to all traders, imports, importers and stocks of the country.

This much will be the production of tur

According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, the production of tur in the 2022-23 crop year (July-June) is estimated to be 3.89 million tonnes, down from 4.34 million tonnes last year. In the same country, about 7.6 lakh tonnes of tur was imported in the year 2021-22. The Center has also announced to increase the special additional excise duty on crude oil to Rs 4400 per tonne. After which it is running at Rs 4350 per from 15 February.
