To provide air travel facility to the common man, a scheme named Udaan has been started. Now the government has launched its next phase i.e. UDAN 5.1. With the help of this, remote areas will also be connected under this scheme and they will get a chance to travel by helicopter.
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that through such efforts more and more helicopter tourists, hospitality and common people will be connected, due to which tourism will also increase. In such a situation, it will also help in promoting local economies. He said that UDAN 5.1 heralds a new dawn not only for civil aviation, but also for remote and underserved areas of India.

In such a situation, there can be an increase in the existing number of helicopters in India. Currently there are about 280 civilian helicopters in India, which are used in many areas. Under the previous round of the scheme, 46 helicopter routes have been operationalized so far, covering many hilly and northeastern states.

The Ude Desh ka Nagrig scheme was launched in 2016. It has been started by the Ministry of Aviation for 10 years. Its main purpose is to cover and connect far flung areas. Along with this, connectivity has to be increased even to small towns. Under this scheme, a target has been set to develop 100 airports by 2024 and this scheme has been completed in 5 years.
