BCCI Central Contracts Indicate Shikhar Dhawan Could Be Part Of Team India ODI World Cup 2023 Mission

Shikhar Dhawan’s chances in WC 2023: Shikhar Dhawan may be running out of the Indian team at the moment but there are full chances of his inclusion in the ODI World Cup squad. This indication is being received from the new Central Contract List of BCCI. BCCI has dropped seven players from their previous contracts in this list but retained Shikhar Dhawan in Grade-C. Shikhar Dhawan has been away from Test and T20 International cricket for a long time. He has appeared in ODIs only in the last year. However, he could not get a place in the Indian team in the three ODI series held this year. Due to this, it was being speculated that now Shikhar Dhawan’s international career is over, but the new central contracts of BCCI have put an end to these speculations.

Why can get place in ODI World Cup
When Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the last three ODI series, it was being speculated that the Indian team management wanted to replace him with Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan for the World Cup. Both these young players were also given a chance in the previous series but here Shubman Gill managed to make an impact but Ishaan Kishan could not win the trust. Ishaan Kishan definitely scored a double century against Bangladesh but apart from this he was a complete flop in other matches.

Then, Shubman Gill also could not paint the same color in the three-match ODI series against Australia, which he did in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Team India had to lose this series. In such a situation, it is possible that the Indian team may give a chance to an experienced and somewhat reliable batsman as an opener in the World Cup.
