Bangladesh Cricket Board on World Cup 2023 prize money: The Bangladesh cricket team did not perform well in the ODI World Cup 2023 held in India last year. Now the news has come out that they have not yet been given the prize money for the World Cup. Now the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued a statement and clarified all this.
Questions raised on prize money
The General Secretary of Bangladesh Cricket Welfare Association recently gave a statement that the players have not received the prize money for the World Cup yet, due to which there is resentment among them. After this statement, BCB had to come forward to clarify its stand.
BCB said that the reason for the delay in distribution of prize money is tax and other formalities which were mandatory to be completed. For this, the board has appointed a big international accounting firm, which has completed the application process of the concerned players. According to the board, now all the formalities have been completed and the prize money will be paid to the players soon.
BCB gave clarification
The board said in its statement- “We want to make it clear that there is no deliberate mistake or negligence of the board behind this delay. Usually, the prize money of major cricket competitions like ICC is received only a few months after the conclusion of the tournament.”
The BCB also said that those who are spreading these rumours are damaging the credibility of the board. The board termed the allegations levelled against its officials as completely baseless and malicious.
Further actions
The BCB has made it clear that the board will not hesitate to take strict action against those who spread such false rumours. The board warned that those who are making such allegations without facts are damaging the image of the board and strict action will be taken against them.
After this entire controversy, BCB has expressed hope that there will be no disagreement between the players and the board and the prize money will be distributed soon.
