Indian top wrestlers protest against WFI: India’s top wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Sangeeta Phogat, Sonam Malik and Anshu have protested against the arbitrariness of the Wrestling Federation of India at Jantar Mantar. All these wrestlers have raised questions on the working style of the organization. During this, Indian wrestlers demanded the dismissal of the President of the Wrestling Federation of India. Bajrang Punia, who is protesting against the organization, says that wrestlers cannot be treated like slaves.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Bajrang Punia, who is protesting at Jantar Mantar, said, “Our protest is against the Wrestling Federation, the way the organization is functioning without keeping in mind the best interests of the wrestlers.” The purpose of our protest has nothing to do with any politics. We have not invited any politician here. This is purely against the wrestlers.
Olympic medalist Bajrang said, “We have come here to raise the real issues of wrestlers, which are not the point of decision making. Wrestlers have tolerated a lot silently. But now we have decided that we will no longer be silent against the unilateral decisions being taken by the Wrestling Federation of India. All the top wrestlers of India will not participate in national or international competitions until our demands are met. We are not treated better by the Wrestling Federation of India. The wrestlers here request the Prime Minister’s Office and the Home Minister’s Office to help us and the game.

During this, Bajrang tweeted and wrote, the job of the Federation is to support the players and take care of their sporting needs. If there is a problem, it has to be solved. But what to do if the federation itself creates the problem? Now we have to fight, we will not back down.
