Asia Cup 2023: The Asia Cup matches being played in Sri Lanka are in discussion due to rain more than the game. There is no such match happening in which there is no disturbance due to rain. Meanwhile, an important update has come out regarding the Asia Cup final. It has been made clear by the Asian Cricket Council that no reserve day has been kept for the final. If the final match is not completed due to rain, then both the teams will be declared winners and the trophy will be shared.

The final match of the Asia Cup is to be played on 17 September. After not having a reserve day, the question of organizing matches in Sri Lanka during the monsoon season is bound to intensify. The Pakistan Cricket Board has already said about heavy losses due to rain. PCB says that due to the rainy season, they wanted to organize matches in UAE instead of Sri Lanka. But ACC President Jay Shah chose Sri Lanka as an alternative instead of UAE.

Where did the controversy start

Actually, the whole controversy started with the hosting of the Asia Cup. Pakistan had the right to host the Asia Cup this year. India refused to send a team to Pakistan due to security reasons. After this, the search for new options regarding hosting was started. Eventually a hybrid model was developed for hosting.

Under this model, four matches are being organized in Pakistan and the remaining 9 matches are being played in Sri Lanka. The Indian team, however, will play all its matches in Sri Lanka only. The final match is also to be organized in Sri Lanka. But due to the rain crisis, now questions have also arisen regarding the final.
