Afghanistan scored 300 runs in the second ODI against Pakistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 151 runs

Pakistan vs Afghanistan 2nd ODI: In the second match of the 3-match ODI series being played between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the batsmen of the Afghan team got to see a great performance. Afghanistan’s team came out to bat first and scored 300 runs at the loss of 5 wickets after the end of 50 overs. For the Afghan team, Rahmanullah Gurbaz played an excellent inning of 151 runs.

In the second ODI of the series being played in Sri Lanka’s Hambantota, the aggressive style of Afghanistan team’s opening batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz was seen. The young wicket-keeper batsman completed the 5th century of his ODI career in just 122 balls in this match. With this, Gurbaz also became the first player from Afghanistan to score a century against Pakistan.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored the 5th century of his ODI career only in the 25th innings. Due to this, Gurbaj has now become the third batsman in world cricket to score the fastest 5 centuries in ODIs. South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock and Pakistani opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq are at number one in this list. Both had played 19-19 innings to complete their first 5 centuries in ODIs.

227 runs partnership for the first wicket

After winning the toss in the second ODI, the Afghanistan team decided to bat first. After this, the opening pair of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran gave a great start to the team, taking the score to 48 runs without any loss in the first 10 overs. After this, both continued the process of increasing the score rapidly. A big partnership of 227 runs was seen for the first wicket between Gurbaz and Zadran. This was the biggest opening partnership by any team in ODI format after 2010 against Pakistan.

The Afghanistan team managed to score 300 runs in 50 overs on the basis of this partnership. Apart from Gurbaj, Ibrahim Zadran scored an inning of 80 runs. On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi took 2 wickets for Pakistan while Naseem Shah and Usma Mir took 1-1 wickets.
