7th Pay Commission: Modi government can give a big gift to central employees and pensioners on Navratri and Diwali on Thursday, October 3, 2024. The decision to increase dearness allowance and dearness relief of central employees and pensioners can be approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dearness allowance and dearness relief may increase
The Union Cabinet meeting is scheduled to be held on Thursday 3 October at 5 pm. And the holy festival of Navratri is starting from this day. Diwali is also at the end of October. In view of these festivals and to provide relief from inflation, the Modi cabinet can take a decision to increase the dearness allowance and dearness relief of central employees and pensioners. This possibility is even greater because voting for the assembly elections in Haryana is going to take place just two days later on Saturday, October 5.
Dearness allowance will increase from July 1
An increase of up to 4 percent is possible in dearness allowance and dearness relief of central employees and pensioners. At present 50 percent dearness allowance is being given. But it is expected that it can be increased to 54 percent. If the cabinet accepts the increase in dearness allowance, it will be implemented from July 1, 2024. That means, if the central employees will get the salary for the month of October, it will be received along with the arrears.
Benefits to 49 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners!
Earlier, before the Lok Sabha elections, on March 7, 2024, dearness allowance and dearness relief of central employees and pensioners were increased. Dearness allowance is increased twice a year from January to June and from July to December. If the cabinet decides to increase the dearness allowance, it will benefit 49 lakh central employees and 68 lakh pensioners and due to this decision, the burden on the government exchequer will be around Rs 13,000 crore.
