Wedding Season In India: In the current wedding season, it is estimated that about 42 lakh weddings will take place across the country, due to which the country's economy can get a booster dose of Rs 5.5 lakh crore. Traders' Federation CAT has released this data. According to CAT, its research wing has made this assessment on the basis of conversations with traders and service providers from 30 cities across the country.
According to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), there will be 42 lakh weddings across the country in the wedding season from January 15 to July 15 and about Rs 5.5 lakh crore will be generated through wedding related purchases and providing services during this period. Huge cash will come into the markets across the country. CAT's National General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal said that more than 4 lakh marriages are likely to take place in Delhi alone this wedding season, which will generate a business of around ₹ 1.5 lakh crore. Last year, in the marriage season ending on 14 December 2023, about 35 lakh marriages took place, in which business worth about Rs 4.25 lakh crore was done.
According to CAT, during this marriage season, the expenditure per marriage in 5 lakh marriages can be Rs 3 lakh. Whereas there will be around 10 lakh marriages in which it is estimated that up to Rs 6 lakh will be spent on each marriage. Additionally, the estimated cost of 10 lakh marriages can be Rs 10 lakh per marriage. The cost of around 10 lakh marriages will be ₹ 15 lakh per marriage. Whereas in each of the 6 lakh marriages, it is estimated that Rs 25 lakh will be spent. There will be 60 thousand marriages in which each marriage is estimated to cost Rs 50 lakh, and in 40 thousand marriages, it is estimated that more than Rs 1 crore will be spent on each marriage. If we combine all these, it is estimated that business worth Rs 5.5 lakh crore will be generated through wedding related purchases and services during this six months in 42 lakh weddings.
Praveen Khandelwal said that before the wedding season, there is a lot of business in home repair and painting. Apart from this, Jewellery, Sarees, Lehenga-Chunari, Furniture, Readymade Garments, Fabrics, Footwear, Wedding and Auspicious Cards, Dry Fruits, Sweets, Fruits, Pooja Wear, Grocery, Cereals, Decorative Textiles, Home Decor, Electrical Utilities, Electronics , and various gift items etc. are most in demand which are expected to get huge business in that season. In such a situation, while the economy benefits due to the wedding season, a large number of people also get employment.
